Why Choose Mel

I am a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) who has been working in the field of applied behavior analysis for over 10 years. I specialize in early intervention, but also have extensive experience working with teens and young adults. While I have been training parents on behavior adjustment techniques throughout my career, it wasn't until I had children of my own that Parent Coaching became a true passion. What makes me unique is my ability to work with YOUR family dynamic.  The recommendations made are feasible, realistic and make sense for YOU.

How I Can Help You

If you're a parent, you know all too well the struggles faced in raising little humans. No, I do not provide that parent manual that we all were hoping to receive when leaving the hospital, BUT I can provide plans and tools to make parenting just a little bit easier; including: sleep training, feeding therapy and toilet training. Let's not forget about those tantrums- Yes, I can help with behaviors too! My goal is to help you to decrease unwanted behaviors while simultaneously teaching new skills/behaviors. These tools will help both YOU and YOUR CHILD. It's possible, let me help you do it!

See the Difference

I am committed to helping families navigate life using the principles of ABA. No child is like yours and no family is like yours. And while reading parenting books, blog posts and listening to podcasts may offer guidance, there is no "one size fits all" recommendation for raising children. I will strive to ensure that recommendations made are individualized based on your specific parenting style and family dynamic. Attachment style parent? Gentle parent? Spiritual? Authoritative? I've got you covered!

Services offered

Sleep Training

Mel offers in depth behavior modification plans that target sleep routines. Does your child get up several times a night? Does your child ask for water/toys/food/etc/etc/etc after being put to bed (or upon waking!)? Does your child cry when being put to bed? If so, Mel can provide behavior techniques to assist in decreasing maladaptive behaviors during the sleep routine and increase both the quality and quantity of sleep your child receives.

Toilet Training

Is your child ready to be toilet trained and you have NO IDEA where to start? Or perhaps you know where to start but are not sure if your child is ready? Perhaps your child has already been toilet trained but has regressed? Therapy with Mel can provide a comprehensive toileting plan to help with any elimination concerns you may have.

Feeding Therapy

image76

Have a picky eater in your home? Therapy with Mel can assist in creating behavior plans that introduce novel foods to your child's food repertoire. Perhaps your child doesn't eat vegetables or meat or foods of a certain color/texture? Maybe they don't stay seated at the table? Perhaps your child will not transition away from a bottle? No problem, Therapy with Mel can help. Collaboration can also be done with other medical professionals to ensure the safety of your child during meal times should significant feeding concerns be present.
